When you’ve completed it, we should trade.
We are SO GONNA TRADE
PS shameless self promo to everyone else: this is a rare cross-post from my other tumblr, bone-map, that is almost all original content with my drawings/artworks/zine/sewing/body mod stuff that you wont see over here. So you should follow, all the cool kids are doing it
My mom always asks me to make her something, and I always threaten to make her macaroni art like in grade school. It’s funny because she’s totally not one of those “everything you make is great just because you’re my kid” kind of moms at all. Anyway today is her birthday and yes, I finally actually made her pasta art. My mom is an unusual lady who introduced me to Witkin, Kahlo, Bukowski, etc. when I was a kid so I think she will like this.
Decorating a skull without making it look like a tacky mess is challenging. I was thinking of barnacles and skeletal deformities when I made this. It is a deer skull and you can see the pieces of pasta pre-paint in the final photo. I built up the pasta with tweezers and glue, and you can see through the stacks to the skull below. It is painted with spraypaint and acrylic paint. There are pieces of a dollar bill in the eye sockets.
wow! this is nothing like i imagined it would turn out! stellar job. it does look very much like a skeletal deformity, or a new mutated or alien specimen altogether. i am really picky in my taste for found object art especially when it comes to using the remains of dead animals (like you said, it can be tacky or a shitty attempt at shock horror) but this is just damn tasty
